I saw one Monarch flying through my yard.
Weather: clear and in the upper 60s to low 70s. Mild winds, from the north, but the Monarch was flying south.
Time: early afternoon
Monarch: I'm fairly familiar with Monarchs and their mimics and am certain it was a Monarch. I believe it was a female, but couldn't tell for sure. It flew quickly past me, but stopped very briefly about 20 ft. away. It was faded, but not tattered. I was surprised to see it and saddened, too, because my milkweeds had not yet come up.
