Bald Eagle
Sightings report image

Date: 02/06/2014

Number: 1

On my way home from Billings, MT, I spotted a Bald Eagle, sitting alone on a fence, west of Shepherd, MT. I stopped and snapped several pictures. As I enjoyed the moment, in came a second Bald Eagle....in for a landing. I snapped more and captured some pretty amazing (at least to me they were amazing) pictures. He/she sat on another fence post near the one that was already perched. I had a very difficult time leaving the site for it was absolutely GORGEOUS. This is, within the last five years, the third siting I've witnessed of Bald Eagles flying around the plains of Shepherd, MT. The Yellowstone River is south of Shepherd, so I am sure that is their nearest main food source. Just so amazing they fly so far up north (in my opinion) over the prairie/farmlands of Shepherd, MT. I am vigilant about spotting them again...and again....and again....
