Clear Lake near Mason City, Iowa


" It must be spring in North Iowa.

Officials at the Clear Lake water plant report the lake was officially declared as iced-out on Saturday, April 12.


The lake is said to be iced-out when a boat can run along the entire shoreline of the lake.

The city has tracked the ice-in and ice-out dates since 1936. The lake was reported as iced-in on Nov. 25, 2013.

The earliest ice-out date was recorded on March 5, 1931. The latest ice-out was April 28, 1951."
