I was traveling west on route 31 in wayne county in New York state. I was approximately half way between the towns of Lyons and Newark, perhaps a little closer to Lyons. Distance from Lyons to Newark only six miles. The route I was on follows the Erie Canal. I rounded a bend in the road and I immediately saw the bald eagle in a tree by the canal. I pulled over and just watched him for a few minutes, noticing that a lady was also pulled over, taking pictures of him. I got my cell phone out to take pictures, but he flew away before I could get a picture. The lady came to my car and we talked about the siting for a few minutes, and my dismay at not getting picture. She did get some great pictures, and took my email address, saying she would send me her pics, but she never did. I'll never forget the siting! He was beautiful!! I look in that area everytime I travel that road, but have never seen him again.
