We had a remigrant male Monarch spend the day with us today
He spent the afternoon sunning, nectaring, and jostling with the other butterflies in the area
He got around pretty well in spite of his worn and tattered condition….
At one point he briefly shared a thistle bloom with another male Monarch….ironically one he had been chasing away much of the day
The milkweed is very plentiful now but not a large number of eggs
Our spring came late so I’m optimistic we’ll see more Monarchs in the days ahead
