Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Number: 1

A beautiful Easter day with warm temperatures in the mid-70's, starting off with a cool morning. I saw a wonderful monarch female laying her eggs and was able to take a quick photo. As with all the females I have seen so far, she had faded wings and they were particularly tattered at the edges. But she was very persistent in her efforts to find healthy milkweed to lay her eggs on. It is magical to see these long-lived and far-traveled monarchs as they find our nursery of milkweed-laden pastures. Each one fills me with happiness and they are always inspiring!
