Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 04/21/2014

Number: 1

This is a photo of a beautiful monarch female nectaring on some Texas Vervain flowers. She has faded wings with torn edges, showing her long journey and endurance. It is likely she laid eggs earlier, but now is taking the time to nectar on the wildflowers. I was able to follow her for about 10 minutes as she went from flower to flower sipping from each, before flying into the woods nearby. I also submitted a photo showing her nectaring on Texas Yellow Stars (Sunflower family). So wonderful to see her!
