"This year, there were 800 entries in the contest, and a Dunbarton resident guessed that ice out would occur at 7:21 p.m. April 18. It actually happened 26 minutes later, however, when a concrete block broke through the ice on Forest Lake, in the process stretching a rope that then yanked the power cord of an onshore electric clock from its socket."
