The last day I saw the sub adult Rufous that stayed here from Sept-2013 thru April 17th, 2014 was when it came down to the feeder above my head while sitting on the patio at 7 a.m. This Rufus was the size of a hermit crab when I first saw it with hardly a tail. It was checking the larger feeder put out for the Ruby-throats to go to in spring and fall migration. He was finally identified as a young male when the orange filled out on his chest area. I heard a couple of chirps as he flew off. Little did I know he was chirping good bye. The photo is blurry because I grabbed the camera too fast to photo him.
