Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/15/2014

Number: 1

I just returned home from a week's trip and found 5 large monarch larvae on my milkweed plant. I bought 2 more from a local gardening nursery to make sure they all had enough food. Two of them have disappeared. I have made a mesh enclosure for the rest of them and two of the plants. Two of the larvae have formed their chrysalises. Today I found 3 more tiny larvae on the new plant in the enclosure. I hope these 6 can live to produce a few hundred more! I feel extremely good about being able to help the preservation and proliferation of this species!!
