Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/26/2014

Number: 1

I saw my first Ruby-Throated Hummingbird this morning at 9:30 AM. It looked like a juvenile. It spent a few seconds feeding and then zoomed up and away. I've had my feeders up for 2 weeks. Even if they don't stay, I can give the weary travelers a meal. They have come a long way just to go through my yard. Flowers in bloom in my yard: Grape Hyacinths, Viburnum, Honeysuckle Shrub, Quince, the Trumpet Honeysuckle is in bud, and Lilacs. I put a pot of red Million Bells (calibrachoa) and Purple Petunias near the feeder.
