We rarely get Common Loons in the immediate Lethbridge area, but a good place to find them is at Payne Lake Provincial Recreation Area, which is about 5km SW of Mountain View or 85km SW of Lethbridge. I drove out to Payne Lake, hoping to find one and as soon as I arrived, there it was about 50m off-shore. Loons have been reported on Albertabirds in the Calgary area earlier than this date.
