Asclepias syriaca (common milkweed) just had its first leaves appear in Lansing, Michigan. These leaves were from an area where common milkweed has been growing for the past several years in my neighbor's yard. (Sorry for the low-quality phone picture.) I study monarchs and milkweed for my PhD, so I know the plant well.
