I saw my first male ruby-throated of the season about 4:30 this afternoon. I just happened to look at the feeder which I've had up for a week, and there he was feeding. He drank off and on for about 15 seconds then flew to a close branch and sat for about 10 minutes. He returned to the feeder, took several long drinks then flew off to the west.
