Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 05/02/2014

Number: 1

This is 2nd photo of the beautiful female monarch that emerged from her chrysalis today. I had brought several caterpillars inside earlier in April - the first one to become a chrysalis did so on April 22nd. So it took 10 days for the chrysalis stage and then this gorgeous butterfly was born today. The photo shows her several hours after her emergence. She variously opened and closed her wings & also at times vibrated them as though revving the engines. She is definitely getting ready to fly!
