May apples are up and abundant along the South creek bank where sun shines through the forest. This is very noticeable, as it has been cold in Michigan and we still don't have any leaves out in our forest yet. Dandelions also flowered in the Southwest Meadow today--much to the delight of our bumblebees. The trees in the city of Midland (one zip code away :) are starting to leaf out.
