Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/03/2014

Number: 1

Last Saturday the Peabody Community Foundation hosted a Community Track Meet at the USD 398 track located next to our elementary school. It was an extremely warm spring day. While I was watching one of the running events I saw a large, beautiful Monarch fly in the center of the track. It was flying about 4-5 feet off the grassy area and heading in a southeastern direction. We have a lot of milkweed planted at the elementary school, thus I was wondering if the butterfly had discovered these plants to lay its eggs.
