Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/08/2014

Number: 1

Two of my friends who are very familiar with monarchs and other butterflies saw a monarch this afternoon just over the dunes from Lake Michigan at Warren Dunes State Park on the Yellow Birch trail near Bridgman, MI.
We've had major bird fallouts in our area the last few days, so the monarch could have been blown north as well. I think the last time we've had a fallout like this was almost 20 years ago. We've had at least 7 baltimore and one orchard oriole fighting over the oranges. I've gotten a bag of oranges each of the last 3 days. After a very cool spring so far, today it got into the low 80's.
