Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/07/2014

Number: 3

2:39 pm We had our first male hummingbird of the year...finally! Had feeder out for two weeks prior with no visits. Feeder is in front of picture window. As we sat watching for visits we noticed it was not just one male. We base this on tummy and throat coloring differences and one dispute. We are pretty sure one was from last year, he knew where we hung the other feeder in front of the kitchen window but it was not up yet. Next day May 8th we had just one male hanging around but maybe a second near evening. We also had a female! She seems to be staying. Today May 9th, we did not spot the male but the female is still here. (I know the male's territory is larger than the female so hopefully he'll return.) Took photos.
