Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/09/2014

Number: 1

Finally saw my first monarch adult in the yard yesterday, May 8 (did report already). Despite lots of milkweed in the yard, it did not stop. Maybe a male, but it was moving on the west wind too fast to determine sex.

Hoping it was sign that the new generation is on its way to KS! Strong storms here yesterday; better today but with north winds. Doubt the monarchs are moving in my direction until the wind shifts. More rain expected in the next couple of days. May further slow the migration northward.

No eggs or larvae yet, but the milkweed is about 1' tall and coming up all over the yard!
