Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/14/2014

Number: 1

Saw my first monarch of the year in the Placerville, California area yesturday (5/14) from the car and it was headed rapidly north. Then today (5/15) I had a male monarch nectaring my yard 5 miles west of Placerville on buddleia bushes. Both butterflies were bright orange in color which means they were new generation monarchs (first generation offspring of the overwintered monarchs.
