I have spotted my first Ruby-throated Hummingbird of 2014, at precisely 12:29 p.m. EDT. It appears to be a female, didn't get a close enough look, feeding from my feeder. She appears to be at least 2-3 weeks earlier than 2013. I first spotted her feeding from my Honeysuckle Vine the last week of May - first week of June 2013. As of 5/17/14, the Honeysuckle is not yet flowering. As a point of interest, I had the feeder up and ready for almost one month, taking in during the cold evenings.
I am beyond overjoyed my girl is back!
