Here on our old family farm (Rice VA--Prince Edward County) we let the milkweed grow out in the horse pasture and at the yard's edge and there's easily a hundred or more stalks knee high or better now.

it's been a slow butterfly spring here. Our lilac is usually covered in butterflies and we only saw a precious few during it's bloom time and even now, weeks after that finished. I try to plant for them and our hummers but haven't gotten it as far along as I'd like. Try to add some new things each year.
