Ice stayed very late this year...was gone only May 5. First loon was seen last week, (12 May) and was joined by his mate this week. We're glad to see our pair back again. The lake is very small, and only one pair of loons are ever seen in a season. We also have a pair of mallards, and usually, a pair of common merganzers.
