Robin (Nesting Behavior)

Date: 05/19/2014

Number: 1

A robin has built a nest on the sill outside our master bedroom, fully three floors above a concrete driveway. The nest appears to be sturdy, having made it through several storms. Unfortunately, she began laying eggs at the beginning of a three night series of frost warnings and spent little time on the nest the first two days. Can the eggs survive this degree of cold? She laid one egg per day from Thursday to Sunday and stopped with four. She is now on the nest almost constantly. I am stopping my home improvement projects and giving her a lot of privacy. If the eggs hatch, how can the fledglings survive a three story drop?
