Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 05/20/2014

Number: 1

I was about to sit down and eat lunch this afternoon when I saw in though my back door window that there was a butterfly sitting out on a pot of flowers. I immediately got up and walked outside as it was fluttering toward another set of larger bushes in the yard. The Monarch gently landed on the limb of the bush and proceeded to flap its wings slowly, opening and stretching out periodically. I caught several quick pictures on my phone before I left it be, and when I returned after lunch, it had moved on. It appeared to be a female.
