Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/20/2014

Number: 1

While cleaning up my waystation, pulling weeds and removing stalks, I was thinking to myself how nice it would be to see a Monarch. Just as I finished my thought, I looked up to see a Monarch flying up and away from the flowerbed. It happened so fast and I could not get a good look to see the gender, it looked worn but healthy. It flew away to the northeast. I have good shoots of common milkweed up, my swamp milkweed is only a few inches tall, dandelions galore, plums and golden current are in bloom and the lilacs are still in bud stage. Sure hope to see more beautiful Monarchs soon!
