All Other Signs of Spring

Today we had what we believe to be an indigo bunting (or mountain bluebird) visit our bird feeder. We have lived here for 11 years and this is the first time we have ever seen this bird. There was a goldfinch on the feeder at the same time and the "bunting" was a bit smaller than him. He was a bright blue colour with black on his wings. A lovely little fellow. We'd love to see more of them!
Earlier this week we also had a first visit by a golden crowned kinglet flitting in our bushes and a ruby crowned kinglet eating some suet. Too cute! I believe we are having more visitors to our feeders because we had such a late winter this year and there haven't been enough bugs for the birds. It is warm out today so hopefully the meals will be more plentiful for them now.
