At 3 o'clock this afternoon I saw the first monarch of the season in my backyard. It was just wafting through but I wasn't able to see if it was a male or female. I have over 40 milkweed plants growing with the tallest being a foot tall so a female has plenty of plants to lay her eggs on. Hope to see more over the coming days.
