Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/26/2014

Number: 1

At the Huron Fringe Birding Festival, Mac Gregor Point Provincial Park, near Port Elgin, Ontario we spotted a fresh monarch flying low at the Ducks Unlimited pond at 11:00 am. Very close to the Lake Huron Shoreline. Confirmed flight pattern, size and wing colours! Our first this spring! So happy to see it along with spring azures, red admirals and a few cabbage whites. Since this has been a late spring, this date is looking good with milkweed at about 3" to 8" depending on area.
