Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/27/2014

Number: 1

I live in an urban setting, but nearby there is a large woodsy park with trails. It was about 8am and I went to see if I could find an Indigo Bunting I had seen the day before. He was indeed singing and close by, but I couldn't find him. I bushwhacked away from the trail and kept looking up into the thick foliage, but then there was movement on a nearby totally dead tree. It was a tiny hummingbird. So strange to see one in the woods. Today was one of our first really hot days after a long cool spell so flowers are blooming, finally. Why don't they ever come to my nectar feeder!
