Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/27/2014

Number: 1

I observed two very beautiful Monarch butterflies in our backyard. I noticed the first one when I saw a butterfly with its wings held upward together eating from a feeder containing a small bowl of grape jelly. After observing it from afar for awhile I approached it so I could see what type it was, and then saw the beautiful wings of the Monarch. Another Monarch then flew into the yard and rested on a step ladder a short distance away. After the Monarch that had been eating the grape jelly left the feeder, it came in under the roof of the patio when I was sitting and circled above me two times. I felt especially blessed to have had a delightful visit from the two Monarchs--the first ones that I had observed this spring.
