Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/28/2014

Number: 1

I noticed an orange butterfly flying around while I was mowing the lawn. I stopped the mower and waited. The butterfly landed on the lawn about 2 feet away from me. Since I generally do not see Monarchs this early, I suspected it might be a Viceroy....but it was definitely a Monarch! It was in good shape; the colors were very vivid; I think it was a male. Next time, I will have a camera with me when I mow!
