I've seen a few orange and black butterflies from a distance during the past week, but couldn't positively ID them because they were moving too fast and too far away. This morning when I was planting my potager garden (which includes a few Milkweed plants), I noticed a large shadow overhead. I looked up, and saw a monarch flying up and over the top of the house. There was no mistaking the distinctive markings. Very pleased to see one again this year. I hope this is a better year for them!
