Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/30/2014

Number: 1

Small but bright female laid eggs on milkweed plants that I cultivate in my organic vegetable garden. There are about 15 plans sprouting and roughly 3 eggs per plant. Other Monarch mothers have been using these plants to drop eggs on. I am going to surround several of the growing milkweeds with nylon stockings secured with rubber band at the base to discourage earwigs from lurking in the top leaves. In my experience, earwigs mean no caterpillars.
