Found monarch eggs on approximately 5-10% of roadside milkweed examined this morning, 50 plants or more alongside 7 miles of gravel road. Also found a probable 3rd instar orange and black striped caterpillar which had just taken off its 2nd instar suit on a milkweed leaf. Then a 4/5 instar monarch cat on a well chewed milkweed plant.

Soil is very dry, but things are green.
