I watched the first eggs being laid on the 23rd of May and knew I wasn't going to be able to see my first caterpillars hatch. I checked on the 27th and all were still eggs, we left on the 28th for our family trip to the Black Hills. I spotted my first caterpillar babies the night we got back home on the 1st of June. So happy to see a good handful of cats survived the 3" of much needed rain we received while we were away. I haven't done a head count yet but it looks like most of the 20 I saw as eggs are there. Hoping for a great Monarch year!
