We live on a 5 acre property near Point Pelee, the most southern point of Canada. Our home is on about 1 acre & we have milkweed, echinacea, bee balm & butterfly bushes near our home. About 3 acres is pasture for our horses. At the very back or south end of our property is about an acre designated as a sanctuary. We have many large patches of milkweed. There is also thistle for the goldfinches etc. I have recently planted choke cherry bushes & a maple tree & will start to add the echinacea & bee balm to the sanctuary. It is visited by many types if butterflies during summer but mostly monarchs, black swallowtails, yellow swallowtails, Queens, Viceroys & others. Our sanctuary is named : Pelee Paradise Sanctuary.
