One adult male monarch and two caterpillars were sighted in the Sierra Nevada mountain foothills east of downtown Jackson, Calif. on June 9 roughly 55 miles east of Sacramento, California on Asclepias speciosa milkweed plants that were growing along a roadside (17101 Climax Rd.) at 1,911 feet elevation Lat: 38.404135 Long: -120.708872. One caterpillar was in the 5th instar which means the egg that produced this butterfly was laid around May 15. One minute video:
