This past weekend I collected five Monarch eggs from common milkweed. One was in my yard, four others I picked by the road. Both were at the risk for being mowed down. I also collected two 1/4" caterpillars by the roadside, although those were in safe place from mowers, but not from parasites. They are all in my basement, where I am rearing them for the third summer now. Three out of five eggs were hatched by this morning. Last summer I released 17 Monarchs, if I remember correctly (and almost 80 black swallowtails). I try to top last summers Monarch release. I have several milkweed varieties in my Monarch Waystation and lots of nectar plants.
