I don't know. Never done this before. I have five kinds of milkweed in my garden and five butterfly bush. Dug up a big tap root of a common milkweed from behind a greenhouse at work and planted it in my garden. The original plant is three feet tall and ready to bloom. My transplant is less than a foot and just taking hold. These look like eggs to me. If I have caterpillars at the end of the week then I will know what I have.
