Low success rate with first batch of eggs found - maybe infertile? Have had good luck finding first instars though.
Current head count as follows - 2 eggs / 60 instars in various stages / 9 chrysalis. Much better start than last year.
Milkweed growth has been very sporadic over the property this summer, still waiting for my 'garden' patch to get going as this is usually a hot spot. I try to spend about an hour a day hunting my 27 acres. There are thousands of milkweed plants. Trying a new patch I haven't been able to get to later today. Other patches in that field have been good so far. I have picked up 15-20 specimens in one trip on a good day.
