Nature can deliver a cruel blow. I went out to check on a chrysalis I was lucky enough to see formed from the "J" stage caterpillar last Saturday. I was shocked to find it turning black. It was beautiful emerald green with gold just seven hours ago. An explanation was at hand. There, still sucking the juices, was a spined soldier bug nymph.
