Robin (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/26/2014

Number: 1

Today some crows attacked a robin's nest in my Blue Spruce. One of the fledging managed to fly down to my roof. I noticed the crows constantly tried to attack the tree again but I managed to stop their attempts. This evening, the mother robin left the fledging all alone in a neighbour's cherry tree; where a large cat lives. The fledging was crying, and noticed the cat was trying to sneak up on it in the evening. I put a bright light on, and pointed it towards the tree, so the cat could not try to sneak up on it during the night, and put a sprinkler on; hoping it would defer the cat. Why would the mother robin leave the fledging all alone when it can barely fly? I am worried when I wake up in the morning the young robin will be dead. If it is still alive, is there anything I can do to prevent it from getting attacked by the cat when it is all alone with little experience?
