Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/29/2014

Number: 1

This morning I was watching VERY closely waiting for my first adult to pop out of her chrysalis. I could see her so clearly in there! Even could see her veins pulsing as she began pumping fluid from her belly into her wings. Turned my back for a few seconds and when I turned back . . . There she was! I released her after about 8 hours. She was so energetic and exercising those wing muscles that I began to fear she might injure herself if I waited til the next day. I have 3 more in chrysalis and one 4th instar. Very few sightings of any kind here so glad to hear others are seeing increased numbers. I'm surrounded by chemical laden GMO farm fields so not expecting great numbers. One can always hope though!
