Since I hadn't had a definite sighting of a monarch this year (only several "maybes"), I was delighted to see a mated pair of monarchs flying by, yesterday in a meadow south of Lake Scugog. They were gone again in seconds - no chance for a photograph. We were on a "butterfly blitz" to get more butterfly species records for the Regional Municipality of Durham. I think all the teams involved were able to report at least one monarch.
