Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 06/21/2014

Number: 1

I had three caterpillars successfully become monarchs in mid-June and right away had more eggs hatch (nearly as soon as the first group left to go make chrysalises!). I have five fifth-instar caterpillars as of 7/2/2014. I also for the first time had eggs hatch on my asclepias tuberosa (butterfly weed).

This is my first year with a butterfly garden. I'm so happy to have had so many successfully healthy caterpillars this year. To think, ZERO were here last year for me, and the summer is just starting!
