Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/03/2014

Number: 1

It was in the evening at about 6 pm in a large plot of prairie flowers that someone has planted beside of US 421 on Madison, Indiana's Hilltop. I was hoping to take pictures of butterflies. I was not expecting a Monarch as I have seen no sign of them at all for a few years. I was noticing that there were not many insects working that field and was concerned. I hope it has not been sprayed with something. I am going to check into that part of it further.
I finally noticed the Monarch. I tried to zoom in and get a quick shot before it left. I only got one pic that is of any count at all, but you can definitely tell it is indeed a Monarch.
