Several large monarch caterpillars were easily located on Asclepias speciosa milkweed patches growing along Dressler Lane in Gardnerville, Nevada on June 30, 2014 Lat: 38.866985 Long: -119.767404 I shot a 4 minute video of several of the large caterpillars that were present and one adult male monarch including a shot of a tachinid fly that appeared to have pierced the skin of a monarch caterpillar (perhaps with it's ovipositor?) and appeared to be drinking the leaking body fluids of the caterpillar:
