While walking the dog, I stopped to inspect a small patch of milkweed for eggs, when I saw my first monarch of the season. I was fortunate enough to watch her lay an egg, which I promptly recovered for rearing. She continued to hover and land on leaves for a few minutes before I continued on my walk.
